Red Tree in Bright Memory is a collection of ceramic sculptures and paintings where the line between the physical world and the internal world blurs. The exhibition is inspired by the simple act of staring at a tree long enough so that when one’s eyes are closed, the tree’s silhouette leaves an afterimage, projecting onto our internal thoughts. The tree represents a portal, a witness to both the physical realm and the internal. This gathering of works is centered around an 11- foot- tall papier-mache tree, a stoic tour guide to this alternate world.
